Lake Conroe’s normal water clarity is slight to moderately stained with fluctuation 1-3 ft. annually. The lake is one of the best fishing lakes in Texas. Largemouth bass is the most sought after species but channel catfish are by far the most abundant sportfish in the lake. Bluegill grow to enormous sizes. Hybrid striped bass fishing is excellent and crappie fishing is rated good. Most of the lake is open water. Bulkheads and boat docks dominate the shoreline. Submerged brush piles have replaced the once tremendous coverage of hydrilla.
