Walleyes are native to the central portion of North America and have been stocked in several Texas reservoirs. An excellent food fish, walleye do not survive well in high water temperatures, therefore restricted to deeper, cooler lakes. The state record is over 11 pounds. Generally  nocturnal for most activity, they spawn when water temperatures reach 45-50 degrees. There is no nest building. Adult walleye prey on other small fish/minnows with life expectancy 7-8 years.
