Licensed Texas anglers rate the white bass as the fifth most preferred species. Adults are found in schools and generate exciting and fun fishing. Locating a school and casting spoons or other surface related lures catch fish. White bass are excellent fighters and are considered superb table fare. Adult white bass resemble young striped bass, however striped bass have two distinct tooth patches on the back of the tongue whereas white bass have one tooth patch. White bass spawn in the spring as they migrate upstream. White bass more than four years of age are rare.
