Green Sunfish

Like the warmouth, the green sunfish has a large mouth and a heavy, black bass body shape. This species is able to thrive in a wide range of conditions. Green sunfish often overpopulate small lakes and ponds. Adults feed on insects and small fish. Green sunfish are found throughout Texas. Due to their propensity to overpopulate, as a rule, they become stunted. Most often the green sunfish does not reach the size for favorable angling.
